Heavy Rain Prompts Yuma Officials to Open Emergency Sandbag Station Ahead of Storms

In anticipation of possible heavy rain this weekend, the City of Yuma Public Works Department is providing residents with a self-serve sandbag filling station in the parking lot of the Yuma Civic Center (1440 W. Desert Hills Drive). The sandbag station will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, October 9, and Saturday, October 10. It will be stocked with sand and empty bags for self-filling while supplies last. Because on-site shovels are limited, residents are encouraged to bring their own.
